Martha Cohen Stine is a founding partner of Cohen Rabin Stine Schumann LLP and has focused exclusively in the field of family law for more than 20 years. Prior to that time, she was a commercial litigator with a large Manhattan law firm. While Ms. Stine strives for amicable resolutions of family disputes and is excellent at the negotiation and drafting of separation agreements, custody agreements, prenuptial agreements and postnuptial agreements, she also has extensive litigation and trial experience in New York's trial and appellate courts, with an excellent record of success in her litigated cases, including well known legal victories and precedent setting decisions. She appears frequently in the media and is often quoted as an expert in her field, and has been involved in many high profile matters throughout her career.
Ms. Stine enjoys an AV Preeminent® 5.0 rating in Martindale and Hubbell, the nationally recognized legal directory, signifying the highest rating for legal ability and professional standards of conduct and ethics. She has been consistently named a Super Lawyer and top lawyer in her field by Super Lawyers New York Metro, where she is listed as one of New York’s top 50 female lawyers. Ms. Stine is active in numerous bar associations and plays leadership roles. She is the current Co-Chair of the New York County Lawyers (“NYCLA”) Matrimonial Section, sits on NYCLA’s Board of Directors, and is the Chair of the NYCLA Foundation, the charitable arm of NYCLA. Ms. Stine is also on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and a member of the Board of Directors of New York American Inn of Court, an organization dedicated to the fostering of excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility and legal skills.
Ms. Stine has a strong connection to theater and the arts and has been the producer and director of many original musicals performed by talented lawyers and judges at bar associations throughout New York City. She is a trained singer and a member of the Blue Hill Troupe, a Gilbert & Sullivan troupe that supports local charities through its productions, and has appeared in operettas with Utopia Opera and Village Light Opera. Ms. Stine is an active member of the Lotos Club and the Lambs, America's oldest theatrical club.
